Ah yeah well I think it’s a great idea!
I’ve been meaning to set up a Dudeism Directory where Dudeists can put themselves on a map to help facilitate gatherings, but also to provide a way for people to find priests to officiate at weddings and the like. I’ve hesitated for several reasons, one of which being that no software seemed 100 percent there, but there have been some new options and I’m going to look at doing that again. I was also worried about spam but i’ve found some good spam fighting solutions as well.
Dean DuderKeymasterI’m going to move this topic to Lebowski Studies
Dean DuderKeymasterIt was fun and helpful, but it also is a bit preaching to the converted. I think most Festers have heard of Dudeism by now.
I think it might be more interesting to set up a table at a fair or a market or an event or just on a street corner (if that’s allowed). But it might also be more awkward trying to explain it. A place like Venice Beach California would also be more amenable to the message than a conservative Christian town.
Yes, they’d charge a fee but it was quite cheap when I did it. Like fifty bucks. Not sure if they’d allow it now or what they’d charge. I suppose if you weren’t selling anything but just giving away literature (maybe a flyer or what have you) they might allow you to do it for free.
I did a comic book convention in Louisville as well when I was there for a Lebowskifest and that was pretty fun. Although they definitely charge to have a table.
Dean DuderKeymasterI (Oliver) have attended four Lebowskifests and always had a table to sell ordinations and give out stuff. Of course Achievers (as the fest goers are known) are very amenable to the message. The bummer part of it is that you sort of miss a lot of the fun because you’re stuck at a table!
Many of the achievers are Dudeists as well at this point. But I highly recommend going to a fest. Such great people attend them. Always a good time.
Dean DuderKeymasterWhich showed up in my email as
<p style=”text-align: center;”>Works perfectly, thanks!</p>
Something’s not right. I’ll look into it.
Dean DuderKeymasterYes that’s correct, but why is some formatting showing where it shouldn’t be? For instance:
<p style=”text-align: center;”>Works perfectly, thanks!</p>
– from videotoast’s post above.
There’s a few posts with the html formatting showing. But only on a few posts. I’m curious what those posters are doing differently.
Dean DuderKeymasterI wonder why html formatting is showing in some replies. Are you cutting and pasting text?
Dean DuderKeymaster@joeyjoejoe – i don’t think we have any profanity filters and i don’t see any replies that need approval. not sure what happened there.
Dean DuderKeymasterGood idea! I added Skeptology. Ideally, departments should not be existing academic disciplines. Skepticism isn’t an academic discipline, of course, but it’s an established philosophy. Cheers!
Dean DuderKeymasterGood idea. I just switched the default to off. Let me know if it doesn’t work.
Dean DuderKeymasterThere is a voting plugin that we could add to the forum but it doesn’t allow you to see the highest rated topics and replies, so it’s not very useful. They might be updating it soon though. We’ll be updating the functionality of the forum and the site itself as time goes on. Thanks for the suggestion!
Dean DuderKeymaster@abidingly, we just launched! Hope to have more voices here soon!
