Hey there! Welcome!
JoeyJoeJoeParticipantWe do the occasional zoom service. About every other month. We are in a high covid area and we just yesterday got restrictions lifted so bars and restaurants can open. Hopefully we can do something in person again soon.
JoeyJoeJoeParticipantYeah, Whenever I hold services we have roughly 12 people say they are coming. I plan on 4. It’s the MO of our demo. But those 4 that show up are a solid group of dudes (it’s actually 2 guys and 2 special lady friends that show up). It’s a great time. Very useful. Sorta like a group therapy session.
JoeyJoeJoeParticipantThe song “Society” by Eddie Vedder comes to mind here.
JoeyJoeJoeParticipantOur last service was a small turnout, only 4 of us in total. We had 7 RSVP and 2 maybes. I figured we wouldn’t have everyone there since our demographic is a little lazy…We ended up talking about TBL and Dudeism in general.
We have a member of our congregation who had never seen TBL before. She had just watched it before the last church service and we answered questions she had regarding the movie. It’s interesting seeing her point of view. She found the movie through the religion which is just mind-boggling to me.
Our next service is more of a “Get to know Dudeism” event. I’m hosting this one at my place (in the backyard weather permitting) and it’s going to be a mini service followed by Wii Bowling and probably a campfire with s’mores. I’ll be providing the fixins for caucasians and some snacks. We have 6 folks who have RSVP’d and I’m hoping to get some +1s there as well. It’s planned for just an hour and half.
Our Facebook group just added a new member! We are up to 9 in total!
JoeyJoeJoeParticipantThis is a deeeeeeeep topic. One to be discussed in person. But I’ll try to give you the gist of what I think.
We are the soul, the spirit, and we have a body. Not a body that has a soul. I believe that when you die, the body dies and the soul remains vibrant. I believe that there are multiple dimensions layered on top of each other and we can only see ours because of the lens we have on during life. I believe that ghosts are spirits that can’t quite make it to their proper dimension. “Crossing Over” to me, means that your spirit moves into the spirit realm.
I believe in reincarnation. I like to imagine it like this: When your body dies, your soul moves into it’s proper dimension, chills for a bit, then when the time is right…boom! A new vessel for the soul is available and you get to take another spin in this dimension.
There’s more to this, but that’s my main belief on death.
JoeyJoeJoeParticipantWe are holding our second church service tonight! Tonight’s topic is “going with the flow” We will be talking about the ‘Row Row Row Your Boat’ idea from ‘The Dude and the Zen Master’ and how sometimes you just need to say, “Fuck It” and let shit go. Whether that be leaving certain people behind or switching career paths or just walking away from a situation.
I’m hoping for some really great conversations tonight. We are expecting between 7 and 9 folks in total.
Keep Abiding,
Joe
JoeyJoeJoeParticipantNevermind! I found the “Official Title Certificate” on the dudeism store. So I guess my follow up question would be:
Is there any titles that are not kosher to use? I would love to be an Arch-Dude of Buffalo

It’s: Buffalo Church of Dudeism (another post with a link is currently awaiting moderation)
JoeyJoeJoeParticipantNope, no pictures. I’ll make sure and grab at least a group shot at the next one!
We started a facebook group for the Church so people can know when and where services will be held next.
JoeyJoeJoeParticipantUnfortunately, I’m terrible at remembering to take photos. I’ll see if anyone happened to snap a few pics!
JoeyJoeJoeParticipantFirst service is in the books! Full post in a new thread
JoeyJoeJoeParticipantHey buddy, only noticed that bit today. Hope you’re doing better now. Just make sure to take it easy.
I’m good! I had appendicitis. Didn’t burst. I’m all healed up now!
