Man, I’ve been thinking about this a bit more than I should today and came across this line on wikipedia:
<p style=”text-align: left;”>”Agriculture was the key development in the rise of sedentary human civilization…”</p>
This totally means agriculture created the greatest things in the world: beer to drink, and bars to drink it in. Not only that, but it allows me to sit on my butt in the place of my choosing and farm my veggies, saving me a few bucks that I can then spend on that beer.
My garden is hydroponic, and built out of cheap stuff that probably shouldn’t be part of a garden, but it’s easy. I’ve got a barrel hooked up to some totes with plants growing in them. I fill that barrel maybe once every two weeks with water and some powders and the stuff I plant just pops on out.
This all lets me be lazy in one place, drink beer, and saves a few bucks. It gives me a nice temple in my garden to be idle. All this stuff came from agriculture, so I definitely see it as a gift from somebody nice (even if that’s just the folks who invented it long, long ago).
