It’s so cliche to talk about how the younger generation isn’t cutting it like we did. That we had it harder. That we weren’t that ignorant.
But we also need to remember that these two newer generations came along at a time where the changes we saw are literally their normal. As we blame our parents for, we too long for and only see a world in which we grew up. We only just began to understand it ourselves. Yes, some of what we went through was different, but the core notion is the same.
So then, what is it? Is it the internet? The iPads? The lack of outdoor playtime? The so-called pandemic?
What is it that we are looking for, so desperately, that we have fallen into the same niche we took every painful step to avoid? When did we become our fathers?
