The Monastic Order of DudeistsTruth, Peace, and the ability to AbideBy Kal’Hyah Delos
A monastic is a more focused follower of a philosophy. I see a Dudeist Monk as someone who is dedicated to speaking only the truth, warts and all. A monk is open to the facts, and empirical evidence. A monk will not follow the popular notion of the moment without examining that popular theory from all sides of the issue. The monk only uses that which is useful, and discards that which is false, or superfluous. The monk explores meditation, even assisted meditation through natural substances such as Cannabis, Ayahuasca/DMT, and Psilocybin mushroom. The monk uses Ti Chi, Yoga, martial art, running, or swimming to purify the body to focus the mind. The monk always has an open mind to possibility. The monk actively avoids the narrow minded trap of tribalism. The monk lives in the world, but is not worldly.
I propose that The Monastic Order of Dudeists is a sub sect of the Church of the Latter Day Dude. Dudeism was and is inspired by the Character of Jeffery Lebowski , from the film “The Big Lebowski”. This film has many facets, a true diamond in the rough. Dudeists inspired by this film find many pathways to a more peaceful way of life. I feel Dudeism is an amalgamation of faith and philosophy. Both the Christian and the Atheist can find common ground here based in a Taoist philosophical tradition. Both the Christian and the Atheist have this in common, neither knows the truth of reality. They only have faith in what they believe. Faith does not equal truth. A pursuit of harmony is the only real truth in making your life more fulfilling. This is why I strive to be a Dudeist Monk.

I would love to get to a monk-like level of devotion, but for now, simply being a priest is good enough for me. Maybe a little further down the trail, but right now…I still abide.

Hay listen Dudes, I was not saying that monks are better. We are all dudes at hart. We are Brothers in a world of chaos, just trying to find peace. I would just as soon put a gun in my mouth than come off as some pompous ass. This is not a response to joeyjoejoe, I Love You Man. But the line in my own writing that bothered me, and I failed to fix it before I posted it. “A monastic is a more focused follower of a philosophy.” That sounds preachy and is not my intent. This Dude just wants to abide. I see anyone who believes him or herself to be a Dude, well more power to you. You can make it work for you however it feels right to you. If I have come off as a self-righteous douche, I ask for your forgiveness. Just trying to Abide here.

Morning!
Don’t worry, it didn’t feel preachy or pompous to me. I actually love this idea. A more focused sect of Dudeism, that’s what I read. Maybe a little less quoting for the quick jokes and little more meaningful conversations. I agree that monks are not better, priests are not better, your every day Jeffrey is not better. What works for you is best. In the end, we are all Dudes, and we all on our own paths.
I look forward to many great conversations with you! Don’t ever feel like you need to censor yourself. Life’s too short to worry about how written words will come across. People’s moods can greatly affect how they read things. We tend to add our own emotions to what we are reading. And me…I’m usually a pretty happy dude!
Take care now!
Joe

Love this idea! Though I’m ordained, I’ve always felt more like a Dudeist monk than a Dudeist priest. I’ve been doing yoga and meditation for going on 20 years now. I just got my PhD in Economicals – I’m not ascetic but at the same time I avoid conspicuous consumption. It’s great to know others are out there living the lifestyle down deep to the marrow too ✌️

The way I saw it was, we have a Dudely lama and a monastic interpretation seemed more fitting to me. Titles like arch this or rev that, seem kinda weird and can give dudes the wrong impression, but each to their own I guess. 😎

It’s mostly a state of mind. So your in Dude. I guess I was just hung up on the Clergy terms like Priest and Father or whatever. The way of the Dude to me is like a monk, with meditation, deep thought on truth, and you know free form Ti Chi, and some good herb. Just turn on the TV or radio and the preponderance of B.S. is overwhelming. The Dude is just trying to abide and find peace. The world is draped in the camouflage of deceit, and lies, of the greedy, corrupt, power hungry soulless monsters trying to manipulate and control your mind. The Dude sees their debauchery and psychological warfare from the whores of mass media. CNN, CNBC, Fox, ABC, CBS and even Disney. It breaks my heart. They sow the seeds of discord so well That the people are at each others throats. What happened to civility? What happened to the free man? Have so many been poisoned by Media that they are slaves to the deep state? I see the corruption and the effect and Well this Dude is out. Politics is a prison for your mind. The Deep State wardens are liars. This dude has walked away.

The song “Society” by Eddie Vedder comes to mind here.
