I can’t think of an appropriate name like Economicals… Maybe there could be a department that studies how technology affects our inner selves and inner peace.

For instance, does social media help or hinder communication? Is it actually social? Will cybernetics affect us more than physically? Should we limit our use of apps, etc?

Hey Dude,

We should totally have a Technology related department! I’ve been thinking the same thing. I’m honestly not sure of the name either but would like to try a few suggestions:

• Abidance Technology
• Technoabidance
• Digital Abidance
• Cyber Abidance
• Cyborg Abidance

What do you think of these ideas? Personally, I like Abidance Technology the best because it show how The Dude uses Analog Technologies in an intentional and mindful way. As an example he uses a Walkman (Phone/MP3 Player in the parlance of our times) or a Tape Deck (CD Player) to Meditate with Bowling or Whale sounds. Of course we can use our digital equivalents in the same way. The Dude also doesn’t feel the need to rush to answer the phone either.

Yeah, me too, that’s a good title. You could even add ‘ogist’ tp the end. 🙂  Technologist’s seems to be something I run into a lot nowdays.

Technodudeism.  I like it,  but it makes me think of Techno music.  I can’t say why.  I just don’t know.

I personally like when they sound like existing fields, but with a twist. So instead of Information Technology (IT) it could be Formation Technology, maybe. Or Disinformation Technology (not something we really want to promote though!). Instead of Cybernetics, it could be Hibernetics (how tech helps us relax). Or Techosophy – the philosophy of tech. Actually I think I like that one the best. Any other ideas along those lines?

I like Techosophy the best, really. since -sophy comes from the Greek for wisdom. So we could also discuss the wisdom of using and not using tech.

If so, how do we proceed? Slowly, of course. I haven’t limbered up a lot today.

What about Abideformation Technology? The study of using technology to simplify your life and abiding in the parlance of our times. Also sounds like Abide-Formation, creating Abidance. 😉
