I read an article about the Lebowski spinoff movie which I believe is called, “Jesus Rolls”.
Looks like it is slated to come out in 2020.
Personally I am not sure exactly how I feel about it until I can see it for what it is.
I wasn’t sure where this link fit on the site so I thought I’d just share it here:

Wow, I don’t know about this. The main character is a registered sex offender. A pedophile no less. Is it just me or is this a really bad idea. I am not sure this is good for us Dudeist. May be its OK for Boy Man Love types but I can’t get behind endorsing a pedophile. I don’t dig it when my Walter comes out, and he is kind of pissed about this. This just seems wrong to me and does not look good because it will be marketed as the next TBL and will send the wrong message.

I have seen it mention in a few articles that the film is meant to be kind of a remake of the 1974 film “Going Places”.
I have not seen that film but here is a movie synopsis from the IMDB page of “Going Places (1974)”:
“Two whimsical, aimless thugs harass and assault women, steal, murder, and alternately charm, fight, or sprint their way out of trouble. They take whatever the bourgeois characters value: whether it’s cars, peace of mind, or daughters. Marie-Ange, a jaded, passive hairdresser, joins them as lover, cook, and mother confessor. She’s on her own search for seemingly unattainable sexual pleasure.”
I am not really sure what the film is trying to say. John Turturro has stated that the film is partially about “how men do dumb things”. I have heard him mention in another interview that there is a hairdresser in it but it sounds like the hairdresser in the Turturro version is an enemy of The Jesus and pals.
I agree that it’s a shame that this film is being associated with The Big Lebowski. It sounds like an exploration of completely different themes and ideas.

I know the article doesn’t say, but any idea if the Dude has a cameo?

Pretty sure The Dude won’t be in it. 🙂
Still I read somewhere that we’ll get to find out how ‘The Jesus’ ended up being on the register, as in he’s not actually a dodger and was setup somehow.

I still don’t like it. Don’t get me wrong I dig John Turturro he is an amazing actor. I just think some people will get the wrong impression. I could be wrong. We will just have to wait and see. But I’m not paying to see it. Bad, greedy film makers with no soul, Bad!

Yeah, you’re dead on, Turturro is a really good actor, hopefully he’s as funny as he was in TBL. I think a lot of that was him giving character to the role anyway, so maybe that’ll help.
I just think it’d be awesome to go see it with a bunch of fellow dudes. Worst case, you get some popcorn and a nap. 🙂
Also, we tend to hit the pub after movies to drown to kill any brain cells with alcohol that might remember the bad bits. 😉
