Pastafarianism
Not to be confused with Rastafarianism, Pastafarianism still shares at least a couple things in common with the religion Bob Marley popularized.
The two are recognized as actual religions with thousands of adherents; they also involve long, stringy things that embody their worldviews: dreadlocks for Rastafarianism, and for the Pastafarians, it’s His Noodley Appendage, the Flying Spaghetti Monster (FSM).
The FSM, according to Pastafarians, is a benevolent supernatural entity who created the world some 4,000 years ago while very drunk. Although they assert that in their religion “anything that comes across as humor or satire is purely coincidental”, the Church of the FSM also believes religion in general
does not require literal belief in order to provide spiritual enlightenment. Much of the transcendent experience of religion can be attributed to the community. And while some members of religion are indoctrinated True Believers, many are not. There are many levels of Belief and each is no more or less legitimate than the other.
Founded by Bobby Henderson, a self-described hobo and hammock enthusiast, the FSM was revealed to the world in 2005. As a physics graduate, Henderson wrote a letter to the Kansas State Board of Education satirizing its decision to allow creationism in schools by arguing that his belief that “the universe was created by a Flying Spaghetti Monster” is as valid as intelligent design.
Today, with thousands of adherents worldwide, the Church of the FSM welcomes everyone to worship His Noodley Appendage. And if you’re not satisfied, the Church offers a “God-back guarantee” in which “your old religion will most likely take you back.”

I would like to make a note that pastafarianism is not necessarily opposed to religion, just the “crazy nonsense done in the name of religion”. Also, sadly, many US state courts have ruled Pastafarianism to be a fake religion and do not properly see it; however, that does not stop other countries from seeing it as a true religion!
If anyone is interested in learning more about Pastafarianism, I’d recommend reading “The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster” by Bobby Henderson. It is very informative about the faith, what Pastafarians believe about the FSM’s dealings with the world after its creation and how to be a good Pastafarian (& Pastafarian Missionary).
